Texans running back Arian Foster ran for 151 yards on Sunday, giving him four straight games with more than 100 yards on the ground.
It also gave him a tie with Priest Holmes for the most 100-yard games -- they’ve each had 31 of them -- of any undrafted running back in league history, a total that many doubted he could reach after having back surgery last season. Foster said over the summer that he wondered if coming back from the surgery was “worth it” physically, but said after Sunday’s game that he never doubted he would return to form once he committed to returning.
“I had an opportunity from my doctor [who] said, ‘This is not a career-ending injury. ... And once I heard that from his lips, it was on again,” Foster said, via the Houston Chronicle. “I put a lot into this season, training with my brother and hopefully it shows. But the doubt -- I never doubted myself. It was like if my body can do it, I’m going to do it.”
Foster now has 766 yards through seven games, more than he managed in eight games last season, and he’s averaging a career-best 5.2 yards per carry. He’s also scored nine touchdowns, which has helped the Texans to a 4-4 record and contributed to a strong bid for comeback player of the year.
