Big Ben goes to New York

Six years ago, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger spent a long day in Manhattan, watching 10 NFL teams call out the names of players not named “Ben Roethlisberger.”

He’s due for another long day in New York City on Tuesday, when Ben, agent Ryan Tollner, and lawyer David Cornwell walk up to the security desk at 280 Park Avenue and explain that they have a meeting with the guy who runs the NFL.

Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Roethlisberger, Tollner, and Cornwell will sit down with Commissioner Roger Goodell today.

We’ve got a feeling that Goodell won’t be complimenting Ben on his latest hairstyle.

(In all seriousness, the first thing Tollner and Cornwell should have done last night was taken their mutual client to a barber. To borrow from Gerald McCoy’s favorite movie, it looks as if Roethlisberger employed a fork -- and possibly a rusty knife -- for the purposes of creating an aesthetically pleasing configuration of hair.)
