Bills running back C.J. Spiller is in the final year of his contract and the team has started talking to him about sticking around for 2015 and beyond.
General Manager Doug Whaley said in an interview on WGR Tuesday morning that he has had a sit-down meeting with Spiller’s representatives and let them know that the Bills would like to continue the relationship.
“He’s a playmaker, and we’re trying to keep as many playmakers as possible,” Whaley said, via the team.
The Bills have run Spiller between the tackles often since Doug Marrone became the team’s coach, something that does not seem to make the best use of those playmaking skills. They’ve also leaned heavily on Fred Jackson at times and acquired two more running backs this offseason to further split up the workload, all of which may not make Spiller all that eager to sign on for a future in Buffalo before (or after) the end of the season.
