The Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback of the future has signed his contract.
Blaine Gabbert, the 10th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, signed on the dotted line today. The Jaguars gave up their first- and second-round picks to move up with the Redskins and acquire Gabbert, and they were eager to get him on the field in training camp.
Gabbert was a two-year starter at Missouri and was viewed by many observers as the quarterback in this year’s draft who would be most ready to step right in and start as a rookie. It’s unlikely, however, that he’ll start in Week One ahead of David Garrard.
The Jaguars also signed their second draft pick, third-round guard/center Will Rackley from Lehigh.
