Cardinals bring back Chris Clemons

at O.co Coliseum on August 30, 2015 in Oakland, California.

Ezra Shaw

The Cardinals needed a defensive back with Tyrann Mathieu lost for the season due to the torn ACL he suffered against the Eagles last Sunday night.

They were able to find one with experience in their defense. The team announced Tuesday that they have re-signed safety Chris Clemons after placing Mathieu on injured reserve.

Clemons was placed on injured reserve because of a hamstring injury. when the team signed Dwight Freeney in October and later released with an injury settlement. He’s eligible to return to the team because six weeks plus the amount of time covered by the injury settlement have passed since his departure.

Clemons played five games before going on injured reserve and made three tackles. He also played one game for the team late last season.
