The Cardinals have waived outside linebacker O’Brien Schofield, the club said Thursday.

The 26-year-old Schofield played and started nine games in 2012, notching 34 tackles and four sacks. An ankle injury in November ended his season.

Schofield’s release comes on the same day the club struck a deal with veteran pass rusher John Abraham. The Cardinals confirmed they had reached agreements with Abraham and tackle Eric Winston on Thursday afternoon.

Schofield (6-3, 242) is slated to make $1.323 million in 2013, per Rotoworld.com salary figures. He could appeal to clubs looking to improve their OLB depth.

The Cardinals also announced the signing of first-year outside linebacker Kenny Rowe on Thursday. Rowe played collegiately at Oregon.
