Chiefs exclusive-rights free agent Josh Martin re-signed with the club on Monday, per the NFL’s personnel notice.
A backup outside linebacker, the 23-year-old Martin notched 14 tackles in 14 games for Kansas City in 2014. A Columbia product, Martin (6-3, 245) was one of the Chiefs’ leading special teams tacklers a season ago. He’ll vie for a role behind the Chiefs’ primary OLB troika of Justin Houston, Tamba Hali and Dee Ford in 2015.
Now entering his third NFL season, Martin will be eligible for restricted free agency after the ’15 campaign. He originally signed with Kansas City as a rookie free agent in May 2013.
