A day after he was cut by the Seahawks, Christine Michael is heading to Green Bay.
The Packers claimed Michael off waivers, NFL Network reports.
Green Bay has a major need at running back, as the running game has suffered since Eddie Lacy went down with an injury. Ty Montgomery, a wide receiver, has transitioned to running back and become the Packers’ leading rusher since Lacy’s injury.
Michael is Seattle’s leading rusher this season with 117 carries for 469 yards and six touchdowns, but the Seahawks decided to waive him anyway. Green Bay will only have to pay him about $280,000 for the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old Michael was the Seahawks’ second-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, taken one pick after Lacy. They traded him to Dallas in 2015, and he also briefly played in Washington before returning to Seattle last year.
The Packers and Seahawks play in Week 14, when Michael will try to make Seattle regret cutting him.
