Coughlin gives up on Matt Dodge

Giants coach Tom Coughlin recently defended punter Matt Dodge against fans who booed him. But loyalty has its limits; as MDS pointed out in the team-by-team cutdown tracker, Big Blue has given Dodge the boot.

The job goes to former Jets punter Steve Weatherford, who’ll be kicking in the same building.

Dodge’s claim to infamy came in late November 2010, when he punted the ball on the final play of regulation to Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson -- and then got an earful from Coughlin.
