Colts quarterback Andrew Luck maneuvered a little faster than Giants coach Tom Coughlin, and the Colts got seven points out of it.
After a close call on a pass from Luck to Coby Fleener, Coughlin began reaching for his red challenge flag, wanting the play to be reviewed. But Luck wisely saw that the Giants were thinking about challenging, and so he quickly got the Colts up to the line, called for a snap, and threw another pass to Fleener, this time for a touchdown.
On the first pass to Fleener, it appears that the officials ruled correctly on the field, and Fleener did make the catch. But leading into the next play, the Giants’ defense appeared to be confused about whether they were going to challenge. Coughlin did pull his flag out of his sock and throw it onto the field, but only after the Colts had snapped the ball to start the next play.
Maybe Coughlin should keep his red flag in his pocket instead of his sock.
