Dan Bailey not fined for altercation with DeMarco Murray

Divisional Playoffs - Dallas Cowboys v Green Bay Packers

It’s rare that we even need to mention this with a kicker, but Dan Bailey escaped without a fine from the NFL this week.

Bailey, the Cowboys’ kicker, got a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct for a sideline altercation with his former teammate DeMarco Murray on Sunday in the Cowboys’ win over the Eagles. The league office has confirmed, however, that Bailey wasn’t fined.

It’s unclear what was going through Bailey’s mind when he grabbed Murray on the sideline after Murray ran out of bounds. Bailey indicated that he grabbed Murray because Murray touched him first, but it was Bailey who committed the penalty.

DeMarco is competitor,” Bailey said. “We just happened to come together at the same place after he made a great play. He kind of gained a few extra yards there, I think he was just fired up. Unexpected, but it’s one of those things where it happens. It’s part of the game. Guys get a little carried away with the emotion of the game sometime. I’ll just try not to do that again.”
