Fumbles or not, Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has accomplished something that previously was achieved by only two other players in NFL history.
Murray has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of his team’s first five games. The only other players to do that were Hall of Famers Jim Brown and O.J. Simpson.
Brown did it with the Browns for the first six games of the 1958 season, and Simpson did it with the Bills for the first five games of 1973 and 1975.
Murray’s talent has never been in question; his durability has been an issue. If he can stay healthy and productive for two more games, he could become the first player in 95 NFL seasons to rush for 100 or more yards in the first seven games of the season.
Murray has 670 yards through five games. But he also has lost four fumbles.
