As much as they’ve talked about windows this offseason, you’d think Arthur Blank of Home Depot owned the Dallas Cowboys.
But it was Jerry Jones who initially suggested the window could be closing on his group of not-young stars, and now his best player agreed with him.
Pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware said that the time for the Cowboys to do something is now.
“I feel like from my standpoint, we’re a better team than we were last year, and it’s going to show on the field,” Ware said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “Jerry saying that the window’s closing, I’m with Jerry. The window can be closing. It closes every year.
“It just depends on if you’re going to walk through that door or not. I’m with Jerry on that.”
So now we’ve got windows and doors. All we need is Tony Romo to check in about the shingles and the metaphor will be officially stretched.
Ware said that the Cowboys are better positioned to do something by virtue of having OTAs and minicamps, unlike last year under first-year defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
“Guys are playing a lot more comfortable and a lot more aggressive,” Ware said.
If that’s the case, they may be ready to put something shiny in the House Jerry Built, and finally live up to the big offseason expectations.
