Despite meeting with Revis, Jets planning for life without cornerback
HBO representatives have said the Jets have given them better access than any team previously on Hard Knocks, which makes us even more excited for the show’s debut this week.
But there are places the cameras won’t be allowed.
Darrelle Revis’ agents and Jets G.M. Mike Tanenbaum met at a random diner in Roscoe, New York on Friday night -- two hours away from training camp. Revis’ agents made a new proposal, and are awaiting an official response, according to ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini.
The unofficial response isn’t encouraging.
“We’re going to prepare like he’s not going to be here,” coach Rex Ryan said Monday. “If he comes through the door, that’s fine. Somebody will kiss him on the lips, probably. But the guys that are here, those are the guys we’re getting ready for the season.”
This approach is a change-of-pace from Ryan’s previous statements. Antonio Cromartie is practicing in Revis’ spot. It just sounds like more hardball.
