Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was listed as a full participant at practice on Wednesday, but coach Jason Garrett admitted on Thursday that it was a slight exaggeration.
The good news for the Cowboys is that the exaggeration doesn’t appear to lessen his chances of playing against the Chiefs. Bryant is battling a foot sprain and Garrett said the team was keeping that in mind while doling out reps at practice while making it clear that Bryant hadn’t suffered a downturn in health.
“He just didn’t take every single rep like he normally does,” Garrett said, via ESPNDallas.com. “That’s just a function of we played Sunday night, he has a little bit of a foot injury and we want to make sure he’s healthy and ready to go this ballgame. No setbacks. Maybe just a little bit more of a limited practice than a typical Wednesday.”
Bryant will practice on Thursday with the team continuing to monitor his workload. Defensive end Anthony Spencer won’t practice on Thursday after returning to work in a limited fashion on Wednesday. The team says it is a schedule day off for Spencer after his first day back on the field following knee surgery. Garrett said Spencer is “getting himself acclimated to playing football again” and that a determination on his status for Sunday hasn’t been made yet.
