Eagles add a quarterback, no one adds Tebow

On Saturday, the Eagles released quarterback Tim Tebow, a day after trading Matt Barkley. Coach Chip Kelly said he’d add another quarterback. And Kelly already did.

Former Jaguars signal-caller Stephen Morris arrives via waivers, giving the team Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, and Morris on the three-man depth chart.

Morris, undrafted in 2014, initially went to the Jaguars in large part due to the presence of offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch, who coached Morris at Miami and ran his Pro Day workout. With Fisch now gone, it’s a little surprising Morris lasted as long as he did.

Tebow was drafted more than five years ago, but he doesn’t have four years of service. So he was subject to waivers. And he wasn’t claimed.

Which makes sense. Tebow spent two full seasons out of the NFL before Kelly rolled the dice on the former Broncos starter with a spot on the 90-man roster. If Tebow can’t make it to the 53-man roster in Philly, he likely can’t make it to the 53-man roster anywhere.
