The clip of FOX sideline reporter Danyelle Sargent asking 49ers coach Mike Singletary about a recent conversation with his mentor Bill Walsh was never actually broadcast, according to John Ryan of the San Jose Mercury News. Per Ryan, WNBC in New York obtained the footage via an “open feed” from which news organizations can access clips and highlights, and then incorporated the moment in Mike Francesca’s Sunday night show titled Mike’d Up. Presumably, Francesca didn’t explain that the incident was simply an unaired blooper. FOX spokeseman Dan Bell said that the network wasn’t happy about WNBC’s decision to use the clip. “We’ve filed a complaint with the league of them using this. It’s unauthorized footage,” Bell said. “It’s footage that was recorded but that never made our air.” Bell also said that “if we saw that on a CBS game, we’re not going to take that and have one of our stations run with it.” The YouTube video of the incident is no longer available to be embedded here. But you can see it if you click through to the YouTube page.
