Harvard man Ryan Fitzpatrick says the key was to “think less”

Not sure if you guys have heard about this, but Ryan Fiitzpatrick is a smart guy. Went to Harvard and everything. People should really talk about that more.

But the Jets quarterback said it was gearing down his brain a bit which helped him lead the Jets to a strong bounce-back last night against the Bills after an ugly opener against the Bengals.

“I think the biggest thing for me is, even going into the game, I just wanted to think less,” Fitzpatrick told reporters. “I think that helped me out a lot. Think less, don’t try to be perfect, don’t try to diagnose everything that he’s trying to do and just play the game.”

The output against the Bengals was far from perfect (77.0 passer rating), but he recovered nicely (116.5) last night, looking again like last year’s record-setting quarterback. And he did it in an old home, against a defense that has messed with him in the past.

“I mean I think it means a little bit more than a regular game,” he said. “It was my life for four years, being here, not necessarily because it was against Rex but because of the place, this place especially for me to play in.

“So, maybe it means a little more for me, but again I’m more excited about our team and the way that we responded in the second half.”

And perhaps all it took was not using that giant brain a little less.
