In New England, safety James Sanders was called a coach on the field by his teammates that often looked to Sanders to settle things down and get everyone lined up in the right spot.

Cut by the Patriots on Monday, Sanders quickly found work with a team that could use an experienced player at the position. The Falcons agreed to terms with Sanders on a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter.

Sanders figures to backup Thomas DeCoud at free safety. The Falcons have a nice starting group, but they needed help with their depth.
