John Elway agrees with the punishments for the Patriots

Elway

Broncos General Manager John Elway says NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell did the right thing by suspending Tom Brady and docking the Patriots $1 million and two draft picks as a result of Deflategate.

“The integrity of the game is No. 1,” Elway said. “I support the commissioner 100 percent.”

Elway said he didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about how long Brady’s suspension should be because he knew it would be less than 11 games, which is what it would have to be to keep him from playing the Broncos.

“I knew that Tom Brady was going to be playing in Week 12,” he said.

Even though the Broncos will still have to face him, Brady’s suspension is good news for the Broncos and for all the other AFC contenders, as it gives those teams a leg up on the Patriots in the battle for home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs. Suspending Brady and stripping picks from the Patriots is beneficial to the Broncos.
