Johnny Manziel made it clear that he’s going to go right on being Johnny Football, and doesn’t care what people think.
So it should come as no surprise that the Browns rookie quarterback has sidled up to the last guy who was going to save Cleveland, only to leave for South Beach.
Manziel has become friends with LeBron James, and signed with LRMR Management, the marketing firm run by the Miami Heat superstar and partner Maverick Carter.
“When you look at who the best player in the NBA right now is, you look at LeBron,” Manziel said , via Tom Reed of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “And somebody who’s at the top of his game and does so much marketing wise, so many good things, I felt like if I got the offer extended to me it was really a no-brainer.”
The two have already appeared together in a McDonald’s commerical, and James was spotted in a Manziel jersey shortly after his de facto hometown team (James is from nearby Akron) chose Manziel 22nd overall.
While ditching the Cavaliers for free agency made him a pariah in Cleveland, James is still a worldwide brand, something Manziel is rapidly approaching before he takes his first pro snap.
