The Browns have benched starting quarterback Brian Hoyer and replaced him with Johnny Manziel today in Buffalo.
With the Bills taking a 20-3 lead in the fourth quarter and Hoyer throwing his second interception, Browns coach Mike Pettine decided he had seen enough and turned to Johnny Football, the first-round draft pick who has been a non-factor this season.
On his first play, Manziel rolled out, looked for an open receiver and ended up running for three yards when he couldn’t find anyone downfield. His second play was a completed pass to Miles Austin, and his next pass was a nicely thrown ball down the middle to Josh Gordon.
From there, Manziel began to look comfortable, hitting on another pass and then showing off his great speed and running into the end zone for a touchdown.
The score may have come too late, as the Browns still trail 20-10 in the fourth quarter. But Manziel looks like he’s the Browns’ quarterback.
