The Ravens worked out Devin Hester on Friday morning, which was a good sign that they weren’t happy with the current kick and punt return options on their roster.

That was a bad sign for Keenan Reynolds. The sixth-round pick out of Navy was trying to make the Ravens after converting from quarterback to wide receiver and the return game was an area where he could have helped his cause.

It didn’t turn out that way, however, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Reynolds has been waived as the Ravens drop to 53 players ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Reynolds finished his college career with 88 career touchdowns, which is a FBS record, and 4,559 rushing yards, which is a record for quarterbacks. Transitioning to a new position is never easy, but he drew a fair amount of interest from the Patriots and others heading into the draft so he may still get another chance to show he can pull it off.
