LeBron’s marketing agency drops Manziel
Johnny Manziel has apparently partied his way out of business relationship with the marketing company owned by NBA star LeBron James.
Maverick Carter of LRMR -- the ‘L’ is for LeBron -- told Cleveland.com Wednesday that the agency has ended its “formal business relationship” with Manziel.
“I will continue to support and advise him as a friend,” Carter said. “However, because Johnny needs to focus on personal growth, the next phase of his career and because LRMR continues to expand beyond marketing, we made the mutual decision that it was best to terminate our business relationship.”
Manziel was benched after being named the Browns’ starting quarterback in November for reportedly lying to then-coach Mike Pettine about his bye week activities. He missed last week’s season finale with a reported concussion and, as usual, there are a bunch of rumors about how he spent the rest of the week.
“Johnny will figure it out at some point, we all hope,” James told reporters Wednesday in Washington D.C., where the Cleveland Cavaliers play Wednesday night.
Manziel had a national TV commercial for Snickers during his rookie season. He also had endorsement deals with Nike, McDonald’s, Nissan and MusclePharm.
