The Lions didn’t take long to find a new special teams coordinator.

Just a day after the news broke that the Lions’ old special teams coordinator, John Bonamego, was leaving to become the head coach at Central Michigan, news has broken that the Lions have found his replacement.

Joe Marciano will be the Lions’ new special teams coordinator, SI.com reports.

Marciano has worked with Lions head coach Jim Caldwell before, as they were both on the staff of the 2001 Buccaneers.

The 60-year-old Marciano has a long history as an NFL special teams coach, having coached the special teams in New Orleans, Tampa Bay and Houston for a total of 28 seasons. He was fired along with most of the Texans staff after the 2013 season and spent 2014 assisting with the Vikings’ special teams, assuming coordinator duties while Mike Priefer served a suspension.
