The Lions have added some veteran depth at a position where they desperately need it.

Drayton Florence, a cornerback who has played 11 NFL seasons, signed with Detroit today.

This is Florence’s second stint in Detroit, having previously played there in 2012. Last year he played in Carolina, appearing in 14 games and starting five for the Panthers. Florence has also played for the Bills, Jaguars and Chargers. Florence had previously worked out for the Titans and Ravens this offseason.

The 33-year-old Florence joins a group of backup cornerbacks in Detroit that also includes Cassius Vaughn, Jonte Green, Chris Greenwood and Bill Bentley. Darius Slay and Rashean Mathis are the Lions’ starters at cornerback.
