The Shawne Merriman rumors that surfaced over draft weekend were at least partially true.
The Chargers linebacker was available, and Kevin Acee the San Diego Union Tribune confirms there were trade talks over all three days of the draft regarding Merriman.
In the end, the necessity of reaching a long-term deal with Merriman “complicated and ultimately thwarted possible trades,” according to Acee.
The rumors reached Merriman through the mouth of Chris Berman.
“Boomer did report that I was on the move I checked well I think I’m already moving pretty good thanks lol,” Merriman wrote on Twitter.
It looks safe to say now Merriman won’t be moving out of San Diego this year.
