The Packers won’t have linebacker Clay Matthews back in the lineup against the Vikings this weekend, but it looks like they’ll have Greg Jennings catching passes from Aaron Rodgers.

Jennings is listed as probable on the Friday injury report after getting through an entire week of practice, signaling the end of his absence after seven games thanks to a torn abdominal muscle that required surgical repair. Jason Wilde of ESPNWisconsin.com reports that coach Mike McCarthy said Jennings’ playing time would be determined by the flow of the game, but there doesn’t seem to be any preconceived snap count in mind for the wideout.

McCarthy also discussed Matthews’ status, which isn’t good enough to allow him to return to action after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. He hasn’t done anything in practice all week, although McCarthy did say he’s seen some improvement as Matthews rehabs.

“He’s making progress, he’s just not ready to play,” McCarthy said.

Safety Charles Woodson, cornerback Sam Shields and defensive end C.J. Wilson will also be out on defense for the Packers. Linebacker Terrell Manning is doubtful, which is going to mean they’re thin on that side of the ball come Sunday.
