There’s no mystery about which football team President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are rooting for in Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIII. They are unabashed fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Responding to a White House pool reporter’s question of, “Steelers or Cardinals, sir,” today, the Washington Post reports that Obama and Biden were both unequivocal that they want the Steelers to win. “I have to say, you know, I wish the Cardinals the best,” Obama said."You know, Kurt Warner is a great story, and he’s closer to my age than anybody else on the field. But I am a longtime Steelers fan. “So ... I wish the best to the Cardinals. They’ve been long suffering. It’s a great Cinderella story. Bu other than the Bears, the Steelers are probably the team that’s closest to my heart. All right?” Added Biden, who was born in Pennsylvania: “We agree on that one, too, boss!” Obama also described Steelers owner Dan Rooney as “an extraordinary supporter,” also noting that Steelers legendary running back Franco Harris and coach Mike Tomlin were strong advocates for his election.
