Middle linebacker has been a dangerous position for the Eagles this season.
More than two months after the team lost starter Stewart Bradley for the season, the Eagles announced Thursday that Omar Gaither will miss the rest of the year because of a Lisfranc sprain in his foot that will require surgery.
Gaither was hurt in last week’s loss to Oakland, and had previously been replaced on running downs by the signing of Jeremiah Trotter. Zach Miller of the Raiders gave Trotter (and other whiffing Eagles defenders) trouble all game.
The injury also helps Philadelphia’s addition of Will Witherspoon before the trading deadline.
The Eagles could potentially have more bad injury news coming its way. Wide receiver Kevin Curtis, how has missed the last three games, went for a second opinion on his knee Thursday.
