The Packers wrapped up a deal with their second-round pick Monday, signing Miami (Ohio) cornerback Quinten Rollins, per the NFL’s personnel notice.
Rollins (5-11, 195) was a collegiate point guard before moving to football in 2014, and a successful transition it was, as he was named the Mid-American Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year after intercepting seven passes. Now, Rollins faces a potentially even more challenging transition — the move from college to the NFL.
In other Packers roster news Monday, the club parted ways with a player who played a key role in one of their defensive touchdowns from a season ago. Second-year defensive end Luther Robinson, who deflected a pass caught and returned for a touchdown in Green Bay’s win vs. Minnesota in October, was waived by the Packers on Monday.
Robinson (6-3, 301) played in five games in 2014 for Green Bay, notching a pair of tackles.
To replace Robinson on the roster, the Packers signed center/guard Andy Phillips, an undrafted rookie free agent from Central Michigan.
