Patrick Willis rejects notion he’s thinking about a comeback

Though a toe injury had bothered him, it was still a bit of a surprise when 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis announced his retirement this offseason.

And while Bleacher Report suggested Willis had not closed the door on a possible return, Willis himself slammed it shut.

Via Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, Willis gave it the full-bore, all-caps social media smack-down this afternoon (apologies in advance for the assault on your eyeballs).

I MADE MY DECISION BACK IN APRIL. AND I HAVEN’T THOUGHT TWICE ABOUT . . . PLAYING ANOTHER DOWN IN THE NFL...PERIOD‼‼‼" he wrote, rather subtly I might add. “SO QUIT TRYING TO BRING LIFE; on a CHAPTER that I have already CLOSED IN MY HEART and MIND.”

The five-time All Pro linebacker is just 30, so a comeback wouldn’t have been inconceivable.

At least until Willis himself said it was.
