Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg said Saturday that he plans to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.

A top recruit coming out of high school, Hackenberg only completed 53 percent of his passes this season. He often played under duress and was sacked more than 80 times over the past two seasons, but his prototype size and arm strength have kept him on NFL radars. His decision to declare for the draft probably doesn’t surprise people inside the Penn State program or in the NFL.

Penn State listed Hackenberg at 6'4, 228. He turns 21 next month.

Hackenberg was knocked out of his final college game Saturday in the first half with a shoulder injury. After the game, Penn State coach James Franklin told reporters he doesn’t think the injury “is anything really serious.”

Underclassmen quarterbacks Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch and Cardale Jones had all previously announced their intentions to enter the draft. This year’s underclass deadline is Jan. 18.
