The Raiders hope to be healthier and happier this year. Perhaps related to that, they’ve found a new strength and conditioning coach.

According to Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Raiders have hired A.J. Neibel to lead that department next season.

Neibel spent the last two seasons with the Jaguars, and has also worked for the Falcons. He spent six years with the Raiders from 2003-08.

The Raiders fired Tom Shaw last season for what coach Jon Gruden called a “personal matter,” and they finished out the season with assistants running things.

They finished the year with 18 players on injured reserve, and while that’s not the fault of the strength coach, they’re often scapegoated at such times.
