Redskins finally draft, take linebacker Trent Murphy

The Redskins finally decided to join the party.

After trading down with the Cowboys, the Redskins added Stanford defensive end Trent Murphy with the 47th overall pick.

He had 15.0 sacks and batted down seven passes last year, but he’s not a big-time pass-rush prospect because he lacks ideal speed.

He’s a bit of a tweener/outside linebacker, not completely unlike Ryan Kerrigan. That gives them a bit of insurance if they can’t keep Brian Orakpo for the long term after franchising him.
