The NFL was obviously pleased with its efforts to stream a game over the Internet earlier this year (especially if you accept at face value their first efforts to measure that pleasure).

So it’s natural that they want to look at ways of expanding their online presence.

According to Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was in San Francisco yesterday meeting with officials from Yahoo and others about the potential for adding “over-the-top streaming” to the Thursday night game package.

It’s clear that now that the league has found a new revenue source, they’re going to look for new ways to tap into it. So while the lack of details about what they’re looking for are few at the moment, suffice it to say there will be many more opportunities for people to watch football on non-televisions in the near future.
