Sammy Watkins shows up for offseason workouts

After missing the first two days of the 2016 offseason program, Bills receiver Sammy Watkins will attend Day Three.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Watkins has arrived in Buffalo for workouts. Per Rapoport, Watkins had been attending a youth camp in South Carolina, and “coaches were aware of his plans.”

But here’s the thing. The camp happened on Sunday. So he could have been there on Monday.

Speaking of Monday, coach Rex Ryan had a chance to explain that Watkins wasn’t present because he had been attending a youth camp in South Carolina. It’s unclear why Ryan didn’t mention that.

Maybe Ryan didn’t mention that because the natural follow-up question would have been, “Coach, didn’t that happen on Sunday?”

Regardless, the workouts are optional, and Watkins doesn’t have to attend. There’s nevertheless another way to look at this issue, which I’ll defer to the next blurb to be posted.
