San Diego State linebacker Russell Allen had a strong workout in front of Carolina Panthers coach John Fox as well as scouts from 16 other teams at his campus Pro Day. At 6'3" and 230 pounds, Allen ran a 4.62 in the 40-yard dash, with some teams clocking him as fast as 4.58 seconds. His 4.62 time would have ranked him as the fourth-fastest linebacker at the NFL Scouting Combine. Allen also registered 24 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press test, a 33.5-inch vertical leap and a 9'10" broad jump. The other NFL teams represented at the workout included: the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and the Oakland Raiders. Allen was named San Diego State’s Most Valuable Player last season and is the school’s third all-time leading tackler.
