Super Bowl XLVII doesn’t set ratings record, after all


The first set of early numbers were very good for CBS. The second set of early numbers aren’t.

According to SportsBusiness Daily, Super Bowl XLVII generated a “fast-national” Nielsen rating of 46.3, which translates to an average of 108.4 million viewers.

But that’s not the most ever. Last year, NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl XLVI had a 47.0 rating and an audience of 111.3 million.Factoring in the Super Bowl XLV average audience of 111.0 million, CBS can boast not the most-watched show of all time, but the third.It doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, though.
