49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had his $11,025 fine for using the wrong language on the field cut in half on Wednesday because he didn’t use a racial slur, although Kaepernick is still left wondering what ran afoul of the league after his halfway successful appeal.

Broncos defensive tackle Terrance Knighton doesn’t seem to be in the dark about the reason for his own fine. Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports that Knighton has been fined $11,025 after picking up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against the Jets for using “abusive language” toward an opponent.

Per Legwold, Knighton told Broncos teammates that he directed a racial slur at another player during the extra point attempt that followed tight end Julius Thomas’s first touchdown of the game. Knighton added that he isn’t planning to appeal the fine.

Thomas was caught on camera saying “It’s so f------ easy” after his second touchdown of the day, but won’t be fined as he didn’t say it in the direction of any Jets players in a manner that the league could reasonably call taunting. Given the fact that Thomas has nine touchdowns through five games, they also couldn’t argue with the accuracy of his statement.
