Texans sign second-round center Nick Martin

USC v Notre Dame

Landing Notre Dame center Nick Martin in the second round was part of the plan coming together for the Texans this offseason.

Now they have him under contract.

The Texans signed their second-round pick today, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

He’s an important part of their offensive makeover, after Ben Jones left in free agency for Tennessee. Alongside free agent acquisition Jeff Allen from the Chiefs, the Texans wanted to upgrade the middle of their line.

Considering what they invested in a new quarterback and running back (free agents Brock Osweiler and Lamar Miller), having some strength up the middle will certainly help, as they try to keep up with a defense which has kept them competitive.
