After Philadelphia’s crushing loss Tuesday night, we said that the Eagles would get their bye week, just a week earlier than they hoped.
Coach Andy Reid essentially confirmed that the team will rest Michael Vick and likely other starters without exactly saying it on Wednesday.
“I’m not even sure Vick could get back from what he has now, the quad [contusion],” Reid said.
Reid also mentioned DeSean Jackson and Asante Samuel as banged up players that may not be worth using.
“You got to look at what’s at stake if you play them, injury-wise. Some guys need the play-time, some guys need the rest-time. I got to look at that,” Reid said.
We’d be surprised to see the team’s prime skill position players like LeSean McCoy for long, if at all. The Eagles’ ugly loss guaranteed this Cowboys game doesn’t matter, so they may as well get some benefit out of the bleak situation.
