Vikings elevate tailback Joe Banyard

Banyard

With Adrian Peterson deactivated for Sunday’s home opener against the Patriots, the Vikings need help at tailback. They’ve gotten it by elevating Joe Banyard from the practice squad.

The team has announced that Banyard is up, and fullback Zach Line is out.

Banyard joins a depth chart headlined by Matt Asiata and rookie Jerrick McKinnon.

Last year, Asiata carried 30 times for 51 yards and three touchdowns in a win over the Eagles. In Week 17, he rushed 14 times for 115 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions.

That sound you hear is everyone who has Peterson on their fantasy team simultaneously grabbing Asiata.
