SMU WR Reggie Roberson has solid pro day on Thursday.
After only jumping and participating in jumps and drills at the combine, Roberson (6'0/200) showed out at the SMU pro day. He improved his vertical jump by 2" up to 31.5" and nearly broke 4.40 seconds in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.42. He was a burner for the Mustangs before tearing his ACL in 2020 and started to return to form as the season went on. Roberson is likely a day three selection that will provide value in the return game.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson will declare for the 2022 NFL draft.
Roberson (6'0"/200) has announced on his Instagram that he’s going to skip the Fenway Bowl and will prepare for the draft. The Mustangs will not have both of their senior wide receivers as Danny Gray has made the same decision.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown in SMU’s 31-24 win over Navy.
Roberson (6'0"/200) did most of his damage on the first drive of the game. On 4th and 1, Navy showed blitz which was picked up with no problem and QB Tanner Mordecai had ages to find Roberson streaking down the left seam for an easy 66 yard score. Navy’s defense proved rather resistance for the rest of the game, and Mordecai was spreading the ball around so there wasn’t much left for Roberson to do. Roberson has been a huge part of one of the best passing offenses in the league, and will take that into the bye before facing Tulane on October 21st.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson (knee) said on Wednesday that he feels “amazing” heading into the upcoming season.
One of the best wide receivers in college football, Roberson (6'0"/200) has seen each of his last two seasons end prematurely due to injury. In 2019 it was a hamstring injury derailing his season, with a torn ACL being the issue last fall. Now the senior, who has caught 123 passes for 2,109 yards and 18 touchdowns as a collegian, says that he’s in the best shape of his SMU career. A healthy Roberson would give the SMU offense a major boost, especially with the Mustangs breaking in a new starting quarterback (likely Oklahoma transfer Tanner Mordecai).

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson is returning to school in 2021.
Roberson (6'0/200) was on his way to another standout season before tearing his ACL against Memphis on October 3. It was another tough break for the talented senior who missed the second half of the 2019 season because of a hamstring injury. In 26 career games Roberson recorded 123 receptions for 2,109 yards, 81 yards per game on average, 17.1 YPC and 18 touchdowns. His return is a major win for HC Sonny Dykes who will get to deploy star wideouts Danny Gray and Roberson again next season.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson (knee) and sophomore RB TJ McDaniel (ankle) will undergo season-ending surgery, HC Sonny Dykes announced on Monday.
These are two huge personnel losses for the Mustangs, with both players suffering their injuries during SMU’s October 3 win over Memphis. McDaniels suffered a dislocated ankle on the first play from scrimmage, while Roberson went down with a torn ACL in the third quarter. “I hate it for both of them,” Dykes said Monday. “TJ is one of the hardest workers in our program. Reggie has been an unbelievable playmaker for us. He was playing with a ton of confidence. I mean, he had 250+ yards and that was early in the third quarter when he got injured. He was well on his way to having a really big game.” Among those who will be asked to step up for the 4-0 Mustangs are RB Ulysses Bentley IV, receivers Rashee Rice and Danny Gray, and TE Kylen Granson.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson will likely miss an extended period of time after suffering a knee injury during Saturday’s win over Memphis.
Roberson (6'0/200) has been one of the most productive wide receivers in all of college football the last two seasons, but unfortunately he’s had to deal with significant injuries as well. In 2019 it was a hamstring that put him on the shelf down the stretch, and in Saturday’s 30-27 win over Memphis he went down with a non-contact knee injury. HC Sonny Dykes said on his radio show Monday night that he’s preparing to be without the senior wide receiver for an extended period of time, which means more opportunities for the likes of TE Kylen Granson and WR Danny Gray.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson was helped off the field during the third quarter of Saturday’s game vs. Memphis after suffering an apparent non-contact knee injury.
Roberson (6'0/200) was attempting to make a cut in the open field when he knee gave out, and the senior wideout was unable to put any weight on his leg while being helped off the field. Prior to his exit Roberson was having a big day, as he caught five passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. Kylen Granson and Danny Gray will figure more prominently in the SMU passing attack with Roberson sidelined.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson caught nine passes for 103 yards with two touchdowns a in a 65-35 thrashing on Saturday of North Texas.
Roberson just missed the century mark in the opening win against Texas State, and was able to hit the mark against the lowly Mean Green defense while finding paydirt twice. The 6-foot, 200-pound wideout gove the Mustangs off to a good start with a 15-yard connection with Shane Buechele at the top of the first quarter, and he hit paydirt again with a two-yard connection in the third. That gives him three scores on the season, and with James Proche gone, it seems likely that Roberson will be Buechele’'s go-to option throughout the season. His next chance for putting up big numbers comes against Stephen F. Austin next Saturday.

  • Wide Receiver
SMU senior WR Reggie Roberson caught six passes for 99 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 31-24 win over Texas State.
Roberson (6'0/200) scored on a 51-yard toss from Shane Buechele midway through the third quarter to snap a 21-21 tie. The Mustangs wouldn’t look back from that point onward, though they would try, botching multiple chances via turnovers and missteps to keep it within easy striking range for the Bobcats (though strike, they would not). Roberson was undone by a foot injury midway through the 2019 campaign, but when right, he’s one of the best receivers in the Group of Five and a potential NFL talent for the spring.
