Patriots placed LB Ryan Claridge on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
When it rains, it pours. The Patriots have now lost three inside linebackers (Tedy Bruschi, Ted Johnson, Claridge) for the season. It only means more work for Chad Brown, Mike Vrabel, and Monty Beisel.
  • NE Linebacker
Ryan Claridge worked almost exclusively at outside linebacker in minicamps.
It appears Mike Vrabel will move back outside this season, so Claridge will be a backup if he stays at OLB.
  • NE Linebacker
Patriots LB Ryan Claridge has a chance to get a lot of playing time this season.
Ideally, New England would move Mike Vrabel back to outside linebacker. That would leave Claridge and Monty Beisel competing for a starting job next to Tedy Bruschi. Claridge, a fifth-round pick in 2005, missed most of his rookie season with a shoulder injury.
  • NE Linebacker
Patriots signed fifth-round pick, middle linebacker Ryan Claridge.
Terms were not announced. The UNLV product will try to make an impact on special teams. The Patriots would ideally groom him to take over for Ted Johnson or Tedy Bruschi.
  • NE Linebacker
    Patriots released LB Ryan Claridge.
Last year’s fifth-round pick must have been highly unimpressive because New England is desperate for young inside linebacker help. He missed all of last season with a shoulder injury. Undrafted FA Freddie Roach has a better shot to make the team now.
