Wisconsin redshirt junior S Scott Nelson (leg) will miss spring practice.
Nelson (6'2/204) suffered the left leg injury in Wisconsin’ season opener against South Florida and subsequently missed the remainder of the 2019 season. The team is playing it cautious in the spring with their projected starting safety, but HC Chryst emphatically stated that Nelson absolutely will be ready for the 2020 season. The former three-star recruit Nelson played in nine games in 2018, starting eight and recording 41 tackles, 3.5 TFL, six PBU and one interception.
  • Wisconsin redshirt sophomore S Scott Nelson (leg) announced on social media late on Saturday that he will miss the remainder of the 2019 season.
Nelson was ruled out for Saturday’s rout of Central Michigan due to a left leg injury. “While I am disappointed to receive the news that my season is over because of an injury, I will not be deterred,” Nelson posted. “My plan is to be back on the field and better than ever when we kick off in 2020. But I’m excited about what our team can be in 2019 and I’m going to be there with my brothers every step of the way. Thank you to all the Badgers out there for your support. On, Wisconsin.” It’s a tough loss for Wisconsin, but their defense was able to absorb his loss on Saturday, posting a second shutout in as many games.
  • Wisconsin redshirt sophomore S Scott Nelson has been ruled out for Saturday’s game vs. Central Michigan due to an undisclosed injury.
Nelson (6'2/204) started Friday’s 49-0 rout of USF, accounting for four total tackles and one pass breakup. With the redshirt sophomore unavailable for Wisconsin’s home opener, junior Eric Burrell could be in line to start at free safety if the depth chart released ahead of the USF game is any indication. Wisconsin has yet to release its depth chart for the Central Michigan game.
  • Wisconsin redshirt freshman S Scott Nelson (right leg) was ruled out for this week’s game at Northwestern.
Wisconsin is decimated with injuries, particularly in the secondary, so it’ll be interesting to see how they defend Clayton Thorson. Coming out, Nelson was a three-star recruit by 247 Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout.
