Eagle signed fifth-round pick, guard Scott Young to a four-year contract.
The BYU product made a splash at the NFL combine by nearly setting a record with 43 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press.
  • Broncos placed G/C Scott Young on the reserve/retired list.
The 28-year-old is retiring for undisclosed reasons. Young, a fifth-round pick of Philadelphia in 2005, appeared in 14 career games with zero starts.
  • FA Guard #79
Eagles LG Todd Herremans could have competition for his job this season.
Coach Andy Reid said Herremans “has to do a better job than he did last year.” Herremans continued to work with the first team offense at minicamp, so he is still ahead of Max Jean-Gilles and Scott Young for now.
  • Browns claimed G Scott Young off waivers from the Eagles.
Young, 27, couldn’t beat out fourth-round rookie Mike McGlynn to be a utility G/C in Eagles camp. He’ll be low on the depth chart in Cleveland.
  • NYG Defensive Lineman
Eagles released DE Jerome McDougle, FB Jed Collins, FB Jason Davis, WR Michael Gasperson, DT Michael Marquardt, WR Shaheer McBride, and G Scott Young.
Davis lost out when Tony Hunt moved to fullback. McDougle made a strong run at a roster spot and it’ll help his chances of catching on elsewhere.
  • Eagles G Scott Young has been skipping voluntary workouts.
Young played in just one game last season. Speculation is that he is hoping to get released, so he can find a team willing to give him more playing time and money.
  • In addition to Patrick Ramsey, the Patriots hosted OL Scott Young for a free agent visit on Wednesday.
Young, who benched 225 a then-record 43 times at the 2005 NFL Combine, can play guard and center. He’d push Russ Hochstein for a job in Foxboro.
  • Broncos signed OG Scott Young.
Young spent much of his career in Philly before the Browns claimed him off waivers last season. He can backup at both guard and center.
