Cowboys activated LB DeMarvion Overshown (knee) from the PUP list.
It was the last day the Cowboys could conceivably activate him after designating him to return three weeks ago, so we don’t know if Overshown is actually game-ready yet. The Cowboys were on bye this past week, and Overshown was still picking up limited practices ahead of their Week 9 game against the Cardinals. Dallas also activated rookie CB Shavon Revel (knee) from the non-football injury list — he faces much the same uncertainty. Both of these players should be boosts for a beleaguered Cowboys back seven. When they’ll actually debut is a question we don’t have an answer for yet.
  • DAL Cornerback #7
Cowboys ruled out CB Trevon Diggs (concussion/knee) for Week 8 against the Broncos.
The Cowboys will also be without starting S Donovan Wilson (elbow/shoulder), rookie CB Shavon Revel (knee) and LB DeMarvion Overshown (knee). Backups S Juanyeh Thomas (migraine) and DE Marshawn Kneeland (ankle) are questionable. The Broncos offense has a fantasy-friendly matchup on its hands this week.
  • DAL Cornerback
Cowboys placed CB Sharon Revel on the non-football injury list.
He’ll miss at least the first four weeks of the season. Revel had a setback in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered last college season and wasn’t expected back for Week 1. The Cowboys will roll on with a depth chart of Trevon Diggs, DaRon Bland, and Kaiir Elam for the time being — though Diggs may still miss some time early in the season.
  • DAL Cornerback
Cowboys CB Shavon Revel Jr. suffered a setback in his recovery from a torn ACL and will not be ready for Week 1.
The Cowboys’ cornerback corps is in rough shape. Trevon Diggs and Josh Butler are both recovering from knee surgery and Caelen Carson is out 4-to-6 weeks with a hyperextended knee. Revel’s expected return-to-play date is unknown.
  • DAL Cornerback #7
Cowboys placed CB Trevon Diggs (knee) on the active/PUP list.
Ditto DeMarvion Overshown, while rookie CB Shavon Revel got an active/NFI listing. Diggs has said his goal is to be back in Week 1, but early offseason reporting was less certain that he’d be ready for the start of the season. Overshown will likely only be back in the closing stages of the season after a late-season ACL tear.
  • DAL Cornerback
Cowboys CB Shavon Revel said he “can pretty much do everything” after suffering a torn ACL last season.
The Cowboys are hoping Revel turns into one of the steals of this year’s draft. The former ECU Pirate displayed first-round caliber talent throughout his collegiate career, but likely slipped to the third round due to his injury. The rookie corner participated in walkthroughs at rookie minicamp and but did not that he hasn’t “gotten too much into” cutting just yet. Revel was injured in last September and is expected to be cleared come training camp. It sounds as if things are trending in the right direction, so we’ll see how things shape up over the next several months.

Cowboys selected East Carolina CB Shavon Revel Jr. with the No. 76 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
A former two-way player and track star in high school, Revel (6’2/194) got his feet wet in 2022 before exploding on the scene in 2023 with a 22.9% force incompletion rate and 84th% coverage grade en route to First Team All-AAC accolades. Career 43% completion rate allowed with an average yards per reception of 17.1 yards, as Revel was frequently left on an island in press man coverage leading to a slew of downfield 1-on-1 targets. Fires downhill to disrupt screen passes, amassing 19 stops with a solid 5% missed tackle rate. A torn ACL prematurely ended his 2024 season, though he had earned an 85.3 cover grade at the time he went down. He thrives in press man situations where he can focus on locking down his assignment, but also has a 78th% zone grade so he’s scheme versatile. Walls off defenders using the sideline on go routes leaving little room for the receiver to make a play on the ball. Phenomenal ball tracking skills when turning and locating the ball downfield, allowing him to rake at the hands of wideouts and create PBU’s.Can be a tick slow breaking on throws in front of him in zone coverage. Feisty play style that causes him to run through the body of receivers, drawing flags. Multiple interception opportunities where he broke hard on a ball and had it in his sights, only for it to fall incomplete. Revel’s length and versatility will be highly valued by NFL franchises.
  • FA Cornerback
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports East Carolina CB Shavon Revel will meet with the Bills, Colts, and Vikings this week.
Revel is a projected first-round pick who is also recovering from a torn ACL. According to Pelissero, Revel will also have a “combine medical recheck” while visiting with the Colts in Indy. Revel underwent reconstructive surgery on his ACL in October, with his doctor saying he expected him to be fully cleared by the summer. Revel forced two interceptions in three games last season and earned a PFF coverage grade of 83.5 or higher in 2023 and 2024.
  • FA Cornerback
The Texans will host East Carolina CB Shavon Revel for an official top-30 visit.
Revel is coming off of an ACL tear suffered just three weeks into the 2024 college season. He was a well-regarded Group of Five prospect before that though, having broken out as both a coverage defender and run defender in 2023. In 15 games over the last two seasons, Revel forced 14 incompletions, recorded three interceptions, tallied 66 tackles, five of which were for a loss or no gain, and even lined up as a box defender on 139 snaps.
