Rams declared OLB Nick Hampton, QB Stetson Bennett, TE Terrance Ferguson, OT DJ Humphries and LG Steve Avila active for Week 3’s game against the Eagles.
Ferguson is inactive with the Rams getting Parkinson back from a shoulder injury. Braden Fiske is also active after being considered questionable with an oblique issue.
  • LA Offensive Lineman #73
Rams coach Sean McVay said OL Steve Avila (ankle) is doubtful for Week 3’s game against the Eagles.
It’ll likely be Justin Decich at guard for the Rams again on Sunday against Jalen Carter and company. McVay added that Colby Parkinson (ankle) is questionable for the contest. No Rams tight ends currently qualify as major fantasy plays.
  • PHI Defensive Tackle #98
Eagles DT Jalen Carter (shoulder) practiced in full on Thursday.
The Rams’ offensive line health is improving but LG Steve Avila remains sidelined by an ankle injury. His absence could be costly with Carter’s health improving. The Week 3 matchup between the Eagles and Rams might be a pass-heavy affair, which would bode positively for Carter’s sack productivity.
  • LA Offensive Lineman #73
Rams LG Steve Avila (ankle) and TE Colby Parkinson (shoulder) are doubtful for Week 2’s game against the Titans.
The Rams will get one of their guards back after Kevin Dotson (also ankle) was cleared off the injury report for Week 2. Beaux Limmer figures to get Avila’s snaps at guard. Parkinson’s absence doesn’t majorly impact the Rams passing tree since it mostly condensed into Davante Adams and Puka Nacua in Week 1.
  • LA Offensive Lineman #79
Rams OL Rob Havenstein (ankle) was limited on Thursday.
Havenstein sat out Wednesday’s practice, so his return is a great sign. The Rams also got back OL Kevin Dotson (ankle), who likewise practiced in a limited capacity. Fellow OL Steve Avila (ankle) remained sidelined. The Rams’ offensive line is banged up, but the unit is at least on the upswing, which bodes positively for Matthew Stafford’s ability to stay upright against the Titans in Week 2.
  • LA Offensive Lineman #69
Rams OL Kevin Dotson, Rob Havenstein, and Steve Avila did not participate in Wednesday’s practice due to ankle injuries.
Dotson, Havenstein, and Avila all popped up on the injury report with ankle issues to start Week 2. Head coach Sean McVay had said Dotson and Avila are week-to-week with their ankle injuries, but Havenstein’s status remains up in the air. Matthew Stafford’s protection will look slim should any or all of these three miss time.
  • LA Guard #73
Rams activated LG Steve Avila from injured reserve.
Avila landed on injured reserve after suffering an MCL sprain in Week 1 against the Lions. The second-year guard now appears set to return for Thursday night’s game against the Dolphins and should man the left side of the interior like we saw for all of last season. As a rookie, Avila played on over 1,100 offensive snaps, and earned a PFF blocking grade of 61.1. He allowed just two sacks on 32 pressures and is one of two linemen set to return for the Rams, as guard Jonah Jackson has also been activated ahead of tonight’s game.
  • LA Guard #72
Rams G Jonah Jackson (shoulder) practiced in full on Thursday.
The Rams’ offensive line is quietly trending toward a midseason turnaround after operating as one of the league’s worst units early on. Hopefully, Jackson can stack another full practice on Saturday and suit up for the first time since Week 2. Fellow OL Steve Avila (knee) likewise practiced in full on Thursday.
  • LA Guard #72
Rams opened LG Jonah Jackson’s 21-day practice window.
In addition to Jackson, the Rams also opened the return window for center Steve Avila. Both players will be eligible to come off injured reserve at any time and would provide immediate boosts to an offensive line that’s ranked 31st in PFF pass-blocking grades and 15th in PFF run-blocking grades. Jackson has been on injured reserve since reaggravating a shoulder injury in Week 2 that he dealt with throughout training camp.
  • LA Guard #73
Rams G Steve Avila (MCL) recently underwent surgery and hopes to return in November.
Sean McVay indicated Avila opted for an MCL repair in order to “accelerate his recovery.” The Rams hope to make a Super Bowl run this year despite their myriad offensive injuries.
