Eagles LB Matt McCoy may be on the roster bubble heading to training camp.
The emergences of Tank Daniels and Chris Gocong don’t bode well for McCoy, a second-round pick in 2005 who has yet to fulfill his promise. The Eagles are crowded at linebacker and McCoy could be the odd man out.

According to ESPN 950’s Brian Seltzer, Joe Mays will get the first crack to replace Stew Bradley as the Eagles’ starting middle linebacker.
It sounds like Philly prefers Omar Gaither as its fourth linebacker. The Birds want a banger in the middle because their defensive line is fairly undersized. Mays hits like a ton of bricks, but would only be a two-down player.
  • FA Linebacker #53
Following the season-ending loss of Stewart Bradley (knee), Omar Gaither appears to be the favorite to start at middle linebacker for the Eagles.
Hard-hitting but inexperienced Joe Mays and versatile sub Tank Daniels may also get looks, but Gaither started in the middle in 2007 and was to enter this season as Philadelphia’s fourth linebacker. Gaither isn’t close to the player Bradley is, but he’d definitely threaten for 100 tackles in 16 starts.

    Giants waived LB Tank Daniels.
Daniels can play all three linebacker positions and should find a home somewhere. He was impressive in training camp.
  • JAC Linebacker
Eagles claimed LB Tank Daniels off waivers from the Giants.
This could be bad news for Rocky Boiman, who looked like the top backup behind SLB Chris Gocong Sunday night. Daniels has more long-term upside.
  • JAC Linebacker
Jaguars signed LB Tank Daniels, formerly of the Eagles.
The 28-year-old former undrafted free agent can play all three LB spots and special teams. Daniels won’t be in the mix to start for the Jags, however.
  • JAC Linebacker
Jaguars released LB Torrance “Tank” Daniels.
Daniels, 28, didn’t see any action last season after spending the previous year on Philadelphia’s roster. Though versatile, he’s not much of a player.
  • JAC Linebacker
The Eagles tendered exclusive rights free agent LB Tank Daniels.
Daniels, a substitute at all three linebacker positions, will make $460,000 in salary. The 27-year-old recorded 16 tackles on defense this past season.
  • JAC Linebacker
Eagles re-signed exclusive rights free agent LB Tank Daniels to a one-year deal.
Daniels ranked fifth on the team in special teams tackles with 18. He also backs up all three linebacker positions.
  • FA Linebacker #51
Chris Gocong is projected to be the Eagles’ starting strong-side linebacker following Dhani Jones’ release.
The second-year player could lose some snaps to third-rounder Stewart Bradley, and potentially Torrance “Tank” Daniels or Greg Richmond.
